Fairtrade Fortnight
We had so much fun during Fairtrade Fortnight. We had a lovely visit from Patrick, who is a Tea Farmer from Kenya. Patrick talked to us about his Tea Estate and how he and others farmed Fairtrade tea. He showed us which were the leaves that needed to be picked to make the best tea. He explained that it took 24 hours for the tea to be ready from when it is picked. He explained what Fairtrade meant for him, his family and his community. The Fairtrade Premium meant that new classrooms and a Maternity hospital have been built, greatly helping Patrick's community. Patrick finished with a Q and A session with the children and he was very impressed with their questions.
In the same week we were invited to the Co-op for a chat about all the Fairtrade products that they sell. We went on a Fairtrade Treasure Hunt around the store which was great fun. The best bit was getting to sample some delicious Fairtrade chocolate.
