Safeguarding

Lethbridge Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All staff and volunteers are expected to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. We also carry out identity, professional qualification and disqualification by association checks before any person undertakes any role within our school. Our leaflet for helpers can be viewed at:
Code of Conduct for volunteers

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the Policies section of our website or via this link.

Keeping children safe in education

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare. All incidents are recorded on CPOMS in line with data protection regulations. CPOMs is a secure digital platform for monitoring safeguarding, wellbeing and all pastoral issues. CPOMs safeguarding records are transferred securely when your child changes school.

We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.

E-Safety
Keeping safe online is a vital part of safeguarding the pupils at Lethbridge Primary School. Our Parents' Area and Pupil Area on our web-site gives up to date e-safety information and activities that can be used to help support the work we do in school in this area and to help teach children basic online safety at home. All internet use by children in school is overseen by a member of staff and we actively teach children about keeping safe online through our cross-curricular Computing curriculum. Internet Filtering is provided by Surf Protect:
Surfprotect.
Online safety

We use Securus Monitoring & Safeguarding Software for Schools - Securus (securus-software.com) to monitor and record any searches or websites that have been accessed that may pose a safeguarding threat. This system meets DfE, Keeping Children Safe in Education statutory guidance, Ofsted inspection requirements & ISI framework. Senior staff will ensure that regular checks are made to ensure that the filtering methods selected are appropriate, effective and reasonable.

Extremism and Radicalisation
It is vital that staff and parents are aware of the possible danger of extremism and radicalisation of children, predominantly but not solely through online activities. We are committed to supporting parents and pupils to be aware of these dangers. The document below provides further information on this. Staff training is carried out in this area.
