RE Vocabulary Progression
We want our RE curriculum to enable all children at Lethbridge to explore the big questions about life, to find out what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live their lives. We recognise the variety of religions and non-religious backgrounds from which our pupils come. We intend to provide them with opportunities to learn about the main world religions and learn from the beliefs of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Humanists. We encourage our children to make sense of the world around them and reflect on their own beliefs and the way they live their lives. Through RE teaching our aim is that children develop an understanding and respect for other people's beliefs and values.
For Religious Education at Lethbridge we follow the locally agreed syllabus. During each key stage pupils are taught knowledge, skills and understanding through learning about Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Jewish and Humanist people through 3 key questions,
believing, expressing and living. This gives our children an opportunity to learn and gain knowledge of varied faiths, develop an understanding of traditions and practices through a focussed, questioning approach.
Children gain a deeper understanding of the religion through our exciting, explorative, informative days for different faiths and celebrations. We have a fun, practical approach to these days including music, art and dance.
We are pleased to have the support of the local Christian Churches. They provide us with opportunities to visit the Church and come in to school to help with assemblies and faith days.
